Goodbyes & Hellos
Farewells are always difficult. This journal has been kind and happy, and so much more than just a journal. And I will miss it but I’m finally ready for something new.
So say hello to my new space: KIMBERLYKRISTENWONG.COM

Savour Every Minute
Uninspired, for a while now. Mind is telling me it’s time for something new, but my heart is still attached to this little space on the www that for the past couple of years I’ve called my own x
Practicality Is The Serial Killer Of Dreams
This three year old feathered fedora has found itself on the tip of my head more often these couple of weeks than it has in a year. A page from my 2011 journal, and a light-hearted reminder we could all do with as we move into 2012 – “Practicality is the serial killer of dreams“. 2011 was good to me, for the most part I was happy. In this coming year, I hope for more magic and dreams, for happiness, health, love and laughter still – and I wish the same for you, may your coming year be filled with only lovely things x
SEOUL SEARCHING IN KOREA
Garosu-gil. Hands down, my favourite street in Seoul. The street’s name translated into English is “Ginko Avenue”, but apart from being lined with ginko trees, Garosu-gil also houses an eclectic mix of Korean high street fashion, cult designer boutiques and quirky coffee joints. D bought more shoes than his two feet can wear in a year. & It was love at first sight for me – the vibe, the laidback energy, the delightful little finds. It was the perfect place to lose yourself for awhile, to stop for a coffee, a chat and a daydream. And that’s just what we did – in between blowing all our remaining cash on clothes.
Bistro Petit Salut
It would seem it’s physically impossible for me to go two posts without updating with pictures of food. Or for me to lose any weight, but that’s a different story altogether, I suppose.
This weekend, we caught The National live at the Esplanade, and can I just say, when Matt Berninger dived into the sea of people, the crowd hit fever pitch, and I could have just died happy in my seat. And that last song, acapella? BLEW. MY. MIND.
The Knolls at Capella Singapore
#1 / Roasted bell peppers, aubergine caviar, tomato marmalade & a crispy quinoa
#2 / Ocean trout, sautéed spinach, orzo a la provencal
#3 / Lemon tart and grapefruit wit mint, orange and champagne sorbet
IL-LIDO ITALIAN DINING
Apart from the braised beef cheeks & molten lava chocolate cake, our dining experience at Il-Lido simply could not compare to the last time we were here. The menu itself was rather interesting, but the scallops (with a blueberry dressing) were under-seasoned and the seabass, mediocre at best. On the bright side, we just couldn’t get enough of the perfectly baked lava cake – I just kept digging in, it was rich, and addictive.
GoMAAD
Just a quick one before heading out –
I’ll be at the Red Dot Design Museum today, showcasing my work, from 5pm – midnight! If you’re free, do come down and join us in a celebration of creativity at the Market of Artists & Designers. Pop by for a drink and some good live music. GoMaad! See you there xx
“We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams”
(Outfit – White Tee & Denim Shorts, Topshop / Suspenders, American Apparel / Panda Chain, Korea / Le Pliage Tote, Longchamp / Sunnies, H&M )
A glimpse into a perfectly sunny day we spent in a park in Seoul – I squealed over the panda chain, you quickly bought it for me. We spent the day riding bicycles, making wind-charm-wishes atop a hill, befriending Korean strangers flying beautiful traditional dragon kites. I kept losing balance, but we never gave up – riding and riding and then finally stopping by the seaside. We held hands, basking in the sunshine, breathing in the salty air, happy to just be in the moment. We are the makers of music, we are the dreamers of dreams.
Formula 1 Paddock Club
Osetra Caviar & Lemon Gelee with Creme Fraiche
Tuna Tartar, Ginger Dressing & Horse Radish
Roasted Beef Tenderloin, Miso Butter
Red Snapper, Potato Puree & Black Bean Vinaigrette
The world of Jean-Georges was pretty amazing – other items on the menu I tried&LOVED include fresh crab bruchetta, lobster with white truffle butter and the salmon tartar crostini. But my absolute favourite was the black truffle & fontina pizza – I had 3!
No (good) photos of the race itself- unfortunately, I didn’t bring the DSLR and was too lazy to fiddle with the shutter speed settings on my S95!
This year, I think the paddock club outdid itself. The entire set-up was really pretty! Chinois themed: the entrance looked like a casino-hotel in Macau, pretty oriental lanterns hanging everywhere, calligraphy artists showcasing their art, a long row of macbooks & bar stools…. There was even a scattering of crepe stands serving a variety of savory & sweets – chocolate raspberry & peking duck!
